It was 2011, and the three Zitelman sisters were on the hunt for great tahini. They looked everywhere for flavorful, fresh tahini, but if they found any jars at all, they were often dusty and old.

Thus, Shelby, Jackie, and Amy decided to fix the problem and make premium tahini of their own, founding Soom Foods in 2013. Jackie, who lives in Israel, sources the ingredients and oversees production. Once it reaches the US, Shelby and Amy spread the good word of excellent tahini, and bring it to shops like ours! We love the pure flavor of the Sesame Tahini, as well as the slight twist on the original with the Chocolate Sweet Tahini. The classic flavor adds nuttiness to any hummus, yogurt sauce, or chocolate chip cookie, while the chocolate version is an absolute dream on a piece of griddled banana bread.
