Where: Catalonia, Spain
How: With the Traditional Method of sparkling-the same method used to make Champagne!

Fun Fact: The name Cava is derived from the Catalan word for cave or cellar.
Tasting Notes: Light with notes of strawberries and spice.
2017 Giocato Pinot Grigio
Who: Winemaker Aleks Simcic
What: Pinot Grigio
Where: Slovenia, right along the border of Italy
How: This was fermented in stainless steel.
Farming Method: Organic
Fun Fact: Records show that Slovenia has been producing wine since at least 500 BC.
Tasting Notes: Clean and easy drinking with notes of pears and apples.
2017 Laroque, Cité de Carcassonne Chardonnay
Who: Winemaker Albert Sarrail and his family
What: 100% Chardonnay
Where: Southwest, France
How: Aged sur lies for 5 months; fermented in new oak
Farming Method: Certified Organic
Fun Fact: Laroque, which means "the rock,’ have vineyards in the hills of the ancient fortified city of Carcassonne in Southern France, located between the Pyrenees to the south and the Black Mountains to the north.
What It Tastes Like: Hay, lemongrass, and like biting into a green apple.
2018 Latúe Rosado
Who: From a group of passionate winemakers.
What: Tempranillo
Where: La Mancha, Spain
How: This was aged for 5 months in stainless steel.
Farming Method: Organic
Fun Fact: The Latúe project began in 1954.
Tasting Notes: Playful with notes of ripe cherries and raspberries.
2016 Verasol Tinto
Who: Charo Moriones
What: Tempranillo and Garnacha
Where: Navarra, Spain
How: These grapes were fermented and aged in concrete.
Farming Method: Organic
Fun Fact: This wine is a perfect addition to the holiday fare – easy to drink, easy to love!
What It Tastes Like: Fresh and light with notes of spice and raspberries.
2018 Domaine la Guintrandy, Côtes du Rhône Vieilles Vignes
Who: Olivier Cuilleras
What: Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah
Where: Rhône Valley, France
How: Maceration lasts about 15 to 20 days, depending on the vintage. The wine is aged completely in tank prior to being bottled without filtration.
Farming Method: Certified Organic
Fun Fact: The vineyard which crosses the Visan hamlet of Devès and the Tulette hamlets of Combes and Saint-Léger is situated at an altitude of between 180 and 230 meters on calcareous clay which lends itself particularly to wine growing.
What It Tastes Like: This ruby-purple colored wine possess copious amounts of black currant and cherries on the nose. The excellent purity shines through, with flavors of black fruits and licorice and a fine tannin structure. Think Mediterranean dishes when pairing with food.
2018 Palazzone Viganarco Orvieto Classico
Who: Brothers Giovanni and Lodovico Dubini
What: Procanico and Grechetto
Where: Umbria, Italy
How: This was fermented in stainless steel.
Farming Method: Organic
Fun Fact: When the Dubini family bought this property in 1969 there was a hotel on the land that dated back thousands of years ago. The pilgrims used to stay in this hotel on their way to celebrate the Jubliee of 1300 AD!
Tasting Notes: Refreshing acidity with tart notes of lemon and mandarin oranges.
2017 Kermit Lynch Red
Who: Jean-Claude Zabella
What: A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, and Cinsault
Where: Languedoc-Roussillon, France
How: These grapes were fermented in stainless steel and aged in a combination of stainless steel and barrel.
Farming Method: Organic
Fun Fact: The Languedoc is nicknamed ‘le Midi’ which roughly means ‘the land of the midday sun’.
Tasting Notes: Gulpable and lively with notes of strawberries and cherries.
2018 Petit Canet
Who: Joshua Adler and Laurent Graell
What: A blend of Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache
Where: Languedoc-Roussillon, France
How: These grapes were fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 15 days in a vat.
Farming Method: Organic
Fun Fact: Joshua and Laurent look for organic wines from small growers around France, but the duo has a particularly soft spot in their hearts for wines from the Languedoc. This is Laurent’s home region!
Tasting Notes: Very playful with notes of raspberries, strawberries, and cherries.
2018 Château d’Oupia Les Hérétiques
Who: Marie-Pierre Iché
What: Carignan
Where: Languedoc-Roussillon, France
How: Half of these grapes went through carbonic maceration and the other were fermented in barrel.
Farming Method: Organic
Fun Fact:Marie-Pierre’s Father, André Iché, inherited a castle dating back to the 13th century (!) and a large amount of land. He decided to create and winery and when he passed away Marie-Pierre took over.
Tasting Notes: Dark, sultry and earthy.
2018 Cantine Rallo, Nero d'Avola Ciello Rosso
Who: Winemaker Andrea Vesco and family
What: 100% Nero d’Avola
Where: Sicily, Italy
How: Aged in stainless steel vats for 6 months and then wooden barrels for a further 5 months
Farming Method: Certified Organic
Fun Fact: The history of the Cantine Rallo wine estate started in 1860 with Marsala wine production, which was the star of Sicilian winemaking at that time. The Vesco family bought this winery in the late 1990’s.
What It Tastes Like: Earthy, full-bodied, rich, and plush like a pillow of dark cherries and black plums.
2018 Cantine Rallo, Catarratto Ciello Bianco
Who: Winemaker Andrea Vesco and family
What: 100% Catarratto
Where: Sicily, Italy
How: Aged in stainless steel vats for 6 months
Farming Method: Certified Organic
Fun Fact: Grapes at the Vesco estate tend to be picked earlier in the year than many of their neighbors’ grapes, which produces Cantine Rallo’s customary bright, fresh style of wine.
What It Tastes Like: Flavors of yellow pear, hints of peach and lemon zest on the mid-palate, and soft notes of marzipan on the fresh finish.
