Donkey & Goat Winery - Berkeley, CA

Kate from Charles River is joining us to pour ALL DONKEY & GOAT! We love Donkey & Goat winery based out of Berkeley, California, and now's your chance to fall in love too! Jared and Tracey Brandt are making some of the most delicious, unadulterated, real juice West of the Mississippi, and we can't wait for you to jump on the D&G train! This is a very special tasting you don't want to miss!

2014 Unintended Chardonnay, Anderson Valley
We love underdog stories in sports, literature, and film (has anyone rewatched Cool Runnings on Netflix lately?!) but for some reason people don’t talk about wine that way. With this Chardonnay, they should! It’s a golden beauty whose 41-year-old-vines struggled for nutrients and strength in the middle of the California drought; after undergoing fermentation in used and neutral French Oak barrels it spent 10-months-aging in barrel. Taste the triumph of the vine in this saline filled wine with notes of lemon curd and green apple!

2017 The Gadabout, Anderson Valley
On days when nothing seems to go right, you should only drink Chardonnay; Jared and Tracy agree as they named their 100% Chardonnay The Gadabout which means ‘a habitual pleasure seeker.' This was grown in Anderson Valley on Ombaun-Zeni and Casabonne-Wohly soil and aged in neutral French Oak barrels. It’s full of warmth with notes of baking spices, citrus and pear.

2017 Isabel’s Cuvée Rosé, Mendocino
These Grenache vines were grown in McDowell Valley and were planted in 1896. They're actually the oldest plantings of Grenache Gris in the US and are grown on Talmage Gravelly and Sandy Loam soil. After undergoing maceration for a few hours, Isabel's Rosé spent 4 months aging in neutral oak barrels. It has  tangy notes of strawberries, rosewater, and guava, and is named after Jared and Tracey's daughter, Isabel.

2016 Grenache Noir, El Dorado
When envisioning this darling red wine, Jared and Tracy’s goal was to create a Grenache that would make everyone dance with delight. It is from Girard Vineyard and was grown on Hotow, Aiken, and Argonaut Soil. It was macerated with wild yeasts in wooden vats for 9 days and then aged for 8 months in neutral French Oak Barrels. It has notes of thyme, pomegranate, and strawberries and cream. Drinking this will gift you the secret dancing skills you’ve always yearned to have!

2015 Mourvèdre The Prospector, El Dorado
This wine hails from gold rush country in California, and so to pay tribute to the hardworking hopefuls who traveled out West, it is named The Prospector! It is 95% Mourvedre with dashes of Grenache and Syrah thrown in. It was grown on loam soil and 35% of the grapes were fermented in whole clusters. After spending 14 days in concrete, the wine was aged for 9 months in neutral French Oak barrels. This Mourvèdre is filled with notes of dusty earth, dried violets, and mushrooms.
