Baci di Dama, or Lady’s Kisses, are a classic Italian holiday sweet! Two buttery hazelnut cookies sandwich a creamy, dark chocolate center, for a crunchy but tender treat. The story goes that they were invented in the 19th century in the Piedmont because King Victor Emanuel II asked his pastry chef to invent a new dessert he could give as a gift to a beautiful lady. The chef came up with these delightful cookies, using one of the Piedmont’s prize ingredients - hazelnuts!
