Meet Deirdre Heekin: acclaimed natural winemaker, Vermont farmer, sommelier, feminist, and kindred spirit. Read more about Deirdre in this excellent Eating Well article, describing Deirdre’s outlook of consumer importance of knowing what’s in one’s glass. Like us, Deirdre wholeheartedly believes that ‘wine is food,’ and that understanding what’s in your wine is equally as important as knowing about the food that we put on our dinner tables.

2018 La Garagista Vinu Jancu Reserve

2018 was a near-perfect growing season with plenty of sun, ideal for a skin-fermented, oxidative orange wine like Vinu Jancu. Aged in amphora, this amber-hued wine offers flavors of ginger, spice, peach blossoms, and hazelnuts. Pair with the sheep’s milk cheese Dirt Lover - which Deirdre would most likely also call herself!

2019 La Garagista Damejeanne

This red is made from 90% Marquette (red) and 10% La Crescent (white). It has a dark Pinot Noir vibe and an explosion of fruit on the palate with notes of sour cherry, rhubarb, and thyme. Get cozy and pair with Hafod, a veggie chili, or cassoulet.
