The Dolomites are a magical place, producing magical wine. Cantina Bolzano is a co-op rich in history located in the Alto-Adige in Northern Italy that we had the pleasure of visiting last April with Stacey and François from Matchvino (and also Salem locals) and we have been huge advocates of their delicious wine ever since. Cantina Bolzano is one of South Tyrol’s top-quality wineries combining 320 hectares from 200 vine growers, producing some of the best South Tyrolean wines out there. The current GM, Klaus Sparer, is the 3rd generation of his family to be at the helm; Klaus has worked at the winery since he was 14! If you haven't tried these shop staples yet, now is your chance. This holy trinity of vino is perfect for your Thanksgiving feast!

2016 Cantina Bolzano, Santa Magdalena Huck am Bach| Santa Magdalena has developed into a highly popular wine in South Tyrol and the German-speaking territories of the Alto-Adige. Ruby red color. Definitely a terroir driven wine. Intense aroma of Bing cherries, violets and almonds. Schiava and Lagrein play beautifully together creating a medium body, elegant red wine. The mild acidity and soft tannins linger in the mouth. Think of Schiava as a Pinot Noir type grape, and Lagrein as a “mini-me” Zinfandel. In one word, this wine is versatile. It is the ultimate food wine.

2016 Cantina Bolzano, Sauvignon Mock | Highly aromatic from steep gravelly slopes of 500m, this Sauvignon Blanc is all peach-pit fresh and mineral-driven, with a long, smooth finish. It's lean and crisp with notes of tart green apple and lemon. Pair with an arugula salad topped with Aussie Magic.

2015 Cantina Bolzano Chardonnay | This Chardonnay was grown in South Tyrol on vineyards ranging 250-500 meters in elevation and was fermented in stainless steel. There are no warm comforting notes of oak here; this wine is filled with minerality and a kick of citrus and green apple on the finish.
